Come Meet the Candidates!

Happy New Year!

A city council race – and the mayoral race – are hard upon us. We all vote March 5.

The Brentwood News is delighted to host a “meet the candidate†forum at University Synagogue on the evening of Thursday, February 7.

Mike Bonin, Tina Hess, Odysseus Bostick and Frederick Sutton will each tell you why he or she is the best candidate to replace Bill Rosendahl, who is stepping back to fight his battle with cancer.

We’ll start at 7:30 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.
I’ll moderate the discussion; “Brentwood Rules†will apply (that is, we’ll all be polite and respectful at all times – candidates AND audience).

This is an important race and we think there should be a good turnout for this event; if you and your guest would like to attend, we ask that you RSVP.

You can do that by sending an email to:
Suzanne@BrentwoodNewsOnline.com.

Let’s hold it to two tickets per request, please. Tickets will be set aside in a “first come, first served†manner, so if at some point we run out of tickets, that will be that.

RSVP right now, before you forget!

There is plenty of free parking at University Synagogue, but get there early just in case you need extra time to find a parking space in the area – or walk from your car to the Synagogue.

Remember, this will be just after rush hour subsides – another reason to come early and beat the traffic.

There is no admission fee but if you would like to make a small contribution to your favorite community newspaper, you can do so that night. We appreciate everyone’s support, it makes a big difference.

This was not easy to organize, as it turns out. It’s a busy time of year and it’s hard to find one date all can agree on. University Synagogue has many activities it sponsors; the candidates are rushing to and fro as election day approaches; outside events like the Super Bowl, The Oscars and Valentine’s Day also got in the way.

Anyway, we finally figured it out: Thursday, the 7th of February at University Synagogue it is. We’ll start at 7:30 p.m. and be done by 9 p.m.

I will be sure to invite Bill Rosendahl to stop by. Let’s take a minute or two on the front end to give him a huge round of applause. Since Valentine’s Day is approaching, we’ll put together a huge Valentine we can all sign. So be there or be square!

Remember, you need to RSVP to: Suzanne@BrentwoodNewsOnline.com. If you don’t have email, you can call 310-476-6397. But email is best if you have it.

Here’s a big thanks to our co-host, University Synagogue. Rabbi Morley Feinstein and his fine team had to pull some rabbits out of the hat to make this possible. We’re thrilled; University Synagogue is a great venue for something like this.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible the night of February 7th!
