YEAR-END CRIME OVERVIEW

Brentwood has an increase of 82 burglaries over last year.
The Los Angeles Police Department has made a number of arrests with the help of the Brentwood Community.
But it still continues, I need the Brentwood Community to understand, whether you live on Mulholland Drive, Sunset Blvd, Wilshire Blvd. or anywhere in between. You can be a victim.
The LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT is making every effort to combat the burglaries.
Here are some “HOME SECURITY TIPS†.
• LOCK ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS, INCLUDING REAR AND GARAGE DOORS, BEFORE LEAVING THE RESIDENCE.
• ENSURE THAT ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS INCLUDING SLIDING GLASS DOORS HAVE STRONG, WORKING LOCKS.
• IF YOUR RESIDENCE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ALARM SYSTEM, ENSURE THAT IT HAS APPROPRIATE COVERAGE FOR YOUR SECURITY NEEDS.
• ENSURE THAT ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS ARE ALARMED. AND THE MASTER BEDROOM AND HALLWAYS HAVE MOTION SENSORS DETECTORS.
• ACTIVATE YOUR ALARM WHENEVER YOU LEAVE YOUR RESIDENCE.
• ENSURE THAT YOUR VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM IS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER.
• RECORD THE SERIAL NUMBERS OF YOUR ELECTRONIC AND COMPUTER EQUIPMENT, AND KEEP RECORDS IN A SECURE LOCATION.
• KEEP RECORDS AND PHOTOS OF NON-SERIALIZED VALUABLES.
• KEEP YOUR PROPERTY WELL-LIT DURING THE EVENING AND EARLY MORNING HOURS.
IF YOU OBSERVE SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY, CONTACT THE POLICE IMMEDIATELY BY CALLING 911 (EMERGENCY) OR THE NON-EMERGENCY NUMBER AT 877-ASK-LAPD (877-275-5273). OBTAIN A DESCRIPTION OF THE SUSPECT(S) PHYSICAL APPEARANCE, ACTIONS, AND ANY VEHICLE DESCRIPTIONS, INCLUDING THE LICENSE PLATE NUMBERS.
DO NOT CONFRONT SUSPICIOUS INDIVIDUALS.
