Eye on Brentwood

When Brentwood’s Arianna Huffington accepted $315 million from AOL to buy her Huffington Post, she had never had a boss. Now she is the boss struggling to blend a lifeless AOL conglomeration of disconnected news resources into her popular Huffington Post. It was conceived in 2005 as a liberal response to the ultra conservative Drudge Report but this opinion was off course as well, because far right conservative, Andrew Breitbart, worked for Arianna in her Brentwood home offices for two years until he decided to quit because the Post was too liberal. Early this summer, Arianna opened the United Kingdom Post and convinced former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and many other BriArianna Huffingtontish celebrities to write for her. She is also targeting Canada and France.

Times Writer Believes Ex-Governor Should Head Up a Fitness Museum
Noting that Brentwood’s Arnold Schwartzenegger has failed as a politician and a husband, LA Times writer, Roy Wallace, is suggesting that he should go back to his Muscle Beach roots and open a “Fitness Museum†. Wallace notes that there is no fitness museum anywhere in the world and that Los Angeles with its “sunshine, sandy beaches and Hollywood star power†would be the proper place for one. Others may believe that someone other than Schwarzenegger should head Wallace’s museum. Arnold fathered a child with the maid who worked for him and his wife, Maria Schriver, for 20 years. Schwarzenegger used to perform at Muscle Beach in Santa Monica which was closed because of an inappropriate sex act at the site by a former Olympic wrestler. It was moved to Venice two decades ago and continues to present regular exhibitions by muscle bound exhibitionists.

Brentwood Architects Jon and Janice Jerde Succeeded Frank Gehrey in Santa Monica
The original Santa Monica Place shopping center was grudgingly designed by famous Santa Monica architect, Frank Gehrey. Gehrey always told his friends that he had been forced to design the cramped center by the owners and he did not want to be known as the designer. New owners, the Macerich Group, gave Brentwood architects, Jon and Janice Jerde, a free hand and the newly designed center has been declared a smashing success. The Jerde partnership was formed 33 years ago and is now located in Venice. The Jerdes have lived in Brentwood for 25 years. Their projects now attract over one billion peopleannually, though far less than Gehrey’s worldwide following

Getty Criticized for Not Acquiring a Landmark
in the History of Art
Art critic, Christopher Knight, severely criticized the management of Brentwood’s J. Paul Getty Museum for failing to ad the “Sacrament of Ordination’ to the museum’s collection of two other artworks by classical artist Nicolas Poussin. Getty Acting Director, David Bromford, said the Getty had just acquired a famous Modern Rome-Campo Vaccino, 1839 painting and the Getty already had two Poussin paintings. The art critic said he believes that the Getty should do anything they can to increase their Poussin collection which, he said, would help the slowly improving collection. Instead, the Poussin was sold to a museum in Fort Worth for $24.3 million, a bargain price the Getty could easily have afforded. Worse yet, the critic noted, one of the famous Poussins had had been acquired by J. Paul Getty, himself, before he died.
