Marine Animal Rescue (MAR) has enlisted the help of the Eastwoods to design and construct a state-of-the-art marine mammal rescue and care center in Los Angeles County. With a well respected advisory board including MARVET Founder, Dr. Raymond Tarpley and lead staff marine mammal veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Conrad, the ‘green’ center, designed by David Hertz and Associates, shall provide 24/7, emergency veterinary care for seals and sea lions.
“My father and I are proud to be a part of this amazing, new Marine Mammal Care Center in Los Angeles, said Alison Eastwood, actress, producer, “being a native Californian, I find it crucial to reach out to the local community to help Marine Animal Rescue raise the funds to build this state-of-the-art facility. My family, friends and I have great hopes that the entertainment community and local businesses will rally to help make this much needed center a reality,” Eastwood concluded.
“We anticipate this building to employ state of the art sustainable and green building systems and practices, that make it one of the leading global examples of architecture, moving beyond sustainability towards a truly restorative building,” added architect David Hertz.

The Eastwood’s involvement will surely assist in making our vision become a reality, ensuring that every injured, orphaned or sick marine mammal receives state-of-the-art medical care with the best possible chance of being released healthy and strong back to the wild,” said an enthusiastic Peter Wallerstein, executive director of Marine Animal Rescue.
MAR rescued 372 marine mammals in 2010.
