Brentwood News: We keep hearing you have a long waiting list of people who want to get in, but that only 20 or so veterans are actually in. Is there any problem here? Why does this seem to be taking so long?
Jeanne Bonfilio, CalVets: There is no waiting list at this time and we are currently accepting applications for residency for all three sites. There are currently 23 residents. Two to three residents are admitted weekly in order to give them a smooth transition to their new Home.
BN: Is there a funding problem?
A. No.
BN: What is your maximum capacity? How long do you think it will be before you fill up?
A: The total capacity is 396 and when the skilled nursing unit opens we will continue to admit to full capacity.
BN: What, if anything, can your Brentwood neighbors do to be helpful here?
A: We invite our neighbors in the community to please come by for a visit and tour soon. If they are aware of any Veterans in need of assisted living or long-term nursing care to please refer them to the Home’s Admissions staff at 424-832-8204 or Public Affairs staff at (424) 832-8219, or they can log on to the website at www.cdva.ca.gov for further information.
