A fresh new eatery made its home in the Brentwood Gardens this summer featuring all gourmet and organic lunch salads, smoothies and frozen yogurt. Café Rivva, with its delicious yet health conscious menu of vegetarian and vegan options, is exactly the type of place that Brentwood locals love to spend their lunch hours.
As a completely organic business, all of their fresh fruits and vegetables are from local farmers and trusted produce distributors, including from the local farmers market. This results in the café having a smaller carbon footprint. This aspect makes the café an ideal spot for the increasing number of environmentally conscious people in the neigborhood.
“Food that has been grown organically carries more nutrients, which are easier to absorb into our body’s cells,†co-owner and creative developer Chris Connolly said. “We value a healthy lifestyle and support natural, organic and chemical-free farming. Our philosophy is ‘goodness flows from within’ which definitely shows in the purity of our smoothies, salads and frozen yogurt.â€
With a strictly vegetarian and vegan menu, Café Rivva appeals to people with all sorts of dietary restrictions. Many smoothies are also non-dairy based which makes them suitable for any lactose intolerance. Some menu items include the popular Mango and Choclate Raspberry frozen yogurts and a fresh spinach and strawberry salad.
The owners chose to open in Brentwood after visiting many different locations around the Los Angeles area because they felt that locals would enjoy and support their organic endeavors.
“We also felt that the balcony on the third floor of the Brentwood Gardens offered our customers a real get-away, somewhere to come and relax, read a book, or just chill out in the sun with a smoothie,†Connolly said.
Chris Connolly, 26, came to America two years ago with the dream of opening his own organic food business after having his own smoothie bar in a sports gym in Ireland. Connolly hopes to build on his customer base and expand towards catering for larger functions, business lunches and other local events. Word of mouth and customer support has helped Café Rivva reach success during its startup.
Readers are encouraged to go and try free samples and visit the website, Facebook and Twitter for weekly special deals. Connolly assures people that “once you try the food you’ll be hooked!â€
