WITH CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Los Angeles, CA (October 12, 2009) � The Women’s International Film & Television Showcase (TheWIFTS) will be presenting Irish filmmaker Mary McGuckian with the Career Achievement Award on December 4, 2009 at their 2nd annual Awards presentation.

One of Ireland�s best kept secrets, Mary McGuckian has written, directed and produced five films in the last five years. Her �Amorality� comedy trilogy will be screened as part of TheWIFTS tribute to this talented innovative filmmaker at the New Beverly Cinema.

Set in their own amoral world the trilogy comedies include �Rag Tale,� a black comedy about the coke & caffeine world of newspaper tabloid journalism; �Intervention,� a dark comedy exploring behind-the-scene world of relationship addiction, and the tragic comedy �Inconceivable,� a look behind the world of fertility clinics.

These unique stand alone independent films are produced in collaboration with Award winning producers Jeff Abberley (�In Bruges,� �The Constant Gardener,� �Pride and Prejudice�) and Martin Katz (�Hotel Rwanda�) along with an equally impressive British and American award winning ensemble cast including Simon Callow, Charles Dance, Colm Feore, Rupert Graves, Ian Hart, Jennifer Jason Leigh Andie MacDowell, Malcolm McDowell, Elizabeth McGovern, Bill Patterson, Amanda Plummer, John Sessions, Sara Stockbridge, and Jennifer Tilly.

One of the things that make McGuckian a stand alone filmmaker is her revolutionary digital technique approach � a modern unscripted style that redefines and challenges conventional filmmaking that has become part of her strong signatory trademark.

McGuckian�s other acclaimed works include the adaptation of Thornton Wilder�s classic Pulitzer Prize winning novel, �The Bridge Of San Luis Rey,� starring a formidable award winning cast including F. Murray Abraham, Kathy Bates, Gabriel Byrne, Geraldine Chaplin, Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel.

TheWIFTS Foundation International Visionary Awards honors the accomplishments of women whose unwavering dedication to their aspirations transcends economic cultural divides to effectuate lasting impressions on society. TheWIFTS showcase which runs from Nov 29-Dec 4 at the New Beverly Cinema celebrates the talent of women in the film and television industry worldwide that brings together women from all walks of life through the Art of Film & Television, the 21st Century Visual Communicator.
