Over the past 36 years, del Mano Gallery has had the privilege to represent the work of the most recognized and accomplished wood artists in the world. Continuing that standard, we are extremely pleased to present this solo exhibition of twenty-four new works by British artist, Bert Marsh. In the genre of James Prestini and Bob Stocksdale, Bert Marsh merges perfect elegant form with richly figured woods. The pieces can be described as minimal, and yet, they are full of depth and surprises. Marsh takes full advantage of the wood’s inherent traits as a once living material by using classic vessel forms as his canvas, he is able to reveal the best in each piece of wood, whether it be the natural bark inclusions or the fine painterly grain patterns. Each vessel in this year’s collection moves beyond its smooth lines and flowing curves to radiate a timeless beauty that transcends even it’s own material and speaks directly to the viewer.
