The Sempra Energy Foundation grant will support a new integrated school curriculum that will educate students on ways they can become responsible environmental stewards while learning about the iconic Southern California landmark.
One hundred area students who attended the celebratory announcement were invited to decorate a new symbolic carousel horse with their thumbprints. Santa Monica Mayor Ken Genser joined the students and added his thumbprint to the specially built carousel horse. The horse, a copy of the same famous design of the horses that are part of the Pier’s legendary carousel, will be showcased at those schools who adopt the curriculum.
