Two armed men robbed a Rolex store at the Westfield Century City mall today, firing at least one shot during the heist before fleeing the scene and prompting a massive police search of the area.
The robbery occurred shortly after noon at the luxury watch store in the 10000 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, according to Los Angeles police Officer Matthew Ludwig.
Police said the two men were armed with assault-type weapons and fired at least one shot while forcing their way inside the store. Nobody was injured in the shooting.
The robbers were described only as men wearing black clothing, and they made off with an undisclosed number of watches, Ludwig said.
According to police at the scene, the men fled the store and got into a stolen Toyota Camry driven by a third suspect. The suspects, however, abandoned the Toyota a short distance away and scattered on foot.
Police dogs were brought into the area to assist in the search of the surrounding neighborhood.
