Monday, May 19, is the deadline for Los Angeles County residents to register to vote in the June 3 election.

The June 3 election is the California state primary. Several key offices that impact the Westside are up for grabs, including Henry Waxman’s congressional seat, Zev Yaroslavsky’s supervisorial seat, and the 26th Senate District. Each of those three offices will have a new person in office to represent Westside residents.

Richard Bloom and Sebastian Ridley-Thomas will be defending their respective Assembly seats, while Karen Bass and Holly Mitchell are incumbents in their respective races for Congress and State Senate.

A board seat on the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is also up for grabs; the district includes portions of the Westside.

Residents can apply online at www.lavote.net or in person at the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s office at 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk.

People can also obtain applications at public libraries, Dept. of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices, U.S. Post Offices and most government buildings.

The County also offers election assistance in Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai and Vietnamese at (800) 481-8683.
