CicLAvia creates a temporary 7.5 mile route of car-free public space for participants to walk, jog, bike, skate, dine or just observe.
CicLAvia is a partnership of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the city of Los Angeles, and the CicLAvia organization. CicLAvia promotes public health, public space, alternative transportation, community and economic development, and bicycle and pedestrian advocacy. Over 100,000 Angelenos participated in last Octobers’ inaugural event and the producers expect an even greater turnout in April.
Encouraging alternative transportation, promoting public health and activation of available public space, it serves as the perfect environment for Angelenos to explore their city through a festival/block party atmosphere. The event is free, with no official “start†or “finish,†so participants may enter and depart anywhere along the way.
And best of all…it’s free!
