Crime in Brentwood was down 9% in 2010 over 2009. Robberies were down 53%, Burglaries were down 28%, and Burglary Theft from Motor Vehicle was down 15%. This primarily is due to you the Brentwood Community and how seriously you take crime prevention. You listen at meetings; you reviewed the e-mails, you exchange information. You have taken simple strategies like locking your doors and windows, setting your alarms, and you followed them. This has resulted in crime reduction over the past three years.
I also would like to say thank you to the Brentwood Community.
When I say the Brentwood Community, I mean Individuals, Groups, Home Owners Associations, Community Council, Chambers, and Civic Organizations.
Out of all the communities, within the 64 square miles of West Los Angeles Division, Brentwood always steps up by being first to help out. You forward messages, donate your time, funds, and items for events. You get the word out, and you listen to one another.
Thank you.
Let’s continue to keep the crime down in Brentwood.
Please continue to lock your vehicle, set the alarm, and never leave anything inside your vehicle.
Lock your doors and windows, set your alarm, look out for your neighbors, and have your neighbors look out for you. Check your alarm and make sure it is working properly. Photograph and document all items for security purposes.
If you have a safe, secure it to the floor or wall.
Always stay alert while walking on the street and while coming and going from your vehicle.
Install cameras and DVR systems at your home and business.
Do not leave any items unattended in coffeehouses, markets, gyms, and restaurants.
Remember you have to take responsibility for your property.
My number one community problem is traffic; please slow down and watch your speed. Come to a complete stop at all stop signs. Look in all directions while making all turns. Look in all directions including behind you while crossing the street.
