Los Angeles is a city like no other. It is about as far away from NYC as it can get and still be on the map of the contiguous 48. Distance is not the only way these two cities are far apart. There is a difference in pace and tone. L.A. is progressive and NYC, not so much. L.A. is a car town while NYC is all about public transportation. L.A. is laid back. NYC is lean into it. In NYC, casual Friday is a 2-piece suit instead of three. In L.A. Casual Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday is designer underwear. You get the idea. These are very different places.
Even within Los Angeles, different parts of town are like different cities. Each section should have its own mayor. Residents of the city do not even agree on what constitutes the Eastside and the Westside. There are at least four different interpretations of it depending on the group in question. One thing is for certain, if you find yourself on the Westside, you never have to leave to experience all that life has to offer. Every stage of life is represented.
Gender Reveal L.A. Style
Google’s company motto used to be, “Don’t be evil.” If they were to do a slogan for gender reveal parties, they would probably say something like, “Don’t be foolish.” A good gender reveal flourish can be spectacular. And Westside party goers are used to being spoiled by the spectacular. The spectacular becomes foolish when thoughtless people behave irresponsibly and cause the rest of the community to suffer the consequences.
There is a wrong way and a right way to use a gender reveal burnout kit. It is perfectly harmless when used on car or motorcycle tires in the right setting. It is not made for handheld pranks, target practice, or other foolishness. Social culture on the Westside can feel like a dangerous game of one upmanship.
Your baby is going to be born into one of the best neighborhoods of one of the best cities in the universe. They will get the best care from the best doctors at the best hospitals ever built. Naturally, you are going to throw them the best party even before they are born. Just be sure to get the best products built with the highest standards of safety to be used by the most responsible people. If your baby is lucky enough to start her life on the Westside, she has a very bright future ahead of her.
Westside Education
Nora Cazenave received a Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Award for 2021. This Crossroads High School student garnered recognition for organizing a Black Lives Matter event. This education award winner,
…is the co-president of an affinity group of multiracial students at Crossroads, and is part of a student group working with admissions to increase the school’s diversity. Nora is passionate about social and environmental justice, educational equity, writing, and marine biology, and is excited about attending college next fall.
There is no doubt that Nora will go on to do great things. And she was not the only winner of this prestigious award. Nora and her fellow Westside achievers are extraordinary people paired with the right educational and social opportunities. This is not uncommon in the education scene on the Westside. From high school to university, you need not look further than the Westside for a well-rounded education.
The Best That Life Has to Offer
What happens after birth announcements and graduation from the world’s premier education center? A lot of living has to happen. The people who do that living on the Westside are among the most fortunate in the world in a variety of categories.
Look no further than Brentwood and Santa Monica for the best of what West L.A. has to offer. You are looking at an area where more than 60% of people 25 and older have a 4-year degree. That is far above the national average. They also beat the average for graduate degrees. That enables some of the highest quality of life in the world, not just in the U.S.
Housing is expensive. But those houses tend to be solid investments, selling for much more than the original purchase price. There is also plenty of housing available for those who have not yet struck it rich. Air quality is always a concern in Southern California. But due to the proximity of the ocean, parts of the Westside have outstanding quality of air to go along with that excellent quality of life.
The world is full of great places to visit and live out one’s life. To enjoy the best of everything, one generally has to visit many places. But Westside L.A. is one of those rare places that has it all from cradle to retirement. You can experience culture, expansive education, nature, an exciting career, satisfying housing, gastronomic delights, perfect weather year round, and so much more. No matter what stage of life you happen to be in, L.A. is a great place to write your own Westside story.
