Small Business Solutions To Thrive in 2022

2022 is here, and LA businesses are again wondering how they’ll adapt to the fluctuations in consumer needs as the pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the nation’s health and economy. As if that weren’t enough to worry about, supply chain shortages, staffing issues, and new virus variants threaten to complicate things further. Naturally, local establishments fear it could result in another significant pandemic-induced loss.

On the bright side, adapting to the “new normal” is manageable. Continue reading to learn how LA small businesses can increase their chances of success in 2022.

Vamp Up Digital Marketing

The global health crisis highlighted the importance of developing and maintaining a solid digital footprint. Even as consumers get back to everyday routines and the economy improves, the need for digital marketing remains a priority. Modern-day consumers complete many tasks on the internet and will continue to do so long after the pandemic is over.

More than having a company website and social media profile, LA businesses should be implementing digital marketing concepts to reach and engage target audiences. A marketing customer data platform can help you finetune your advertising for a more authentic approach and personalized experience.

Offer Multiple Shopping Channels

Shelter in place orders in LA and across the nation sparked a change in how consumers shop. At the start of the pandemic, consumers opted to make purchases online and have products shipped or delivered to their homes. 2021, the world “reopened,” and many people flocked back to their favorite stores and shops for an in-person experience.

As the country’s state fluctuates, LA businesses will need to accommodate all preferred shopping methods. That means having a safe, decent, and inviting storefront for in-person visits and providing options like online shopping, same-day delivery, and curbside pick-up for customers that prefer to play it safe.

Focus On Employee Empathy And Support

The job market may have turned around since the onset of the pandemic, but there are still hurdles to overcome. Many companies report that finding reliable employees is becoming increasingly difficult. More people are quitting their jobs due to burnout, new mandates, and remote opportunities.

Without adequate staff, providing quality products and services to customers is impossible. Entrepreneurs must empathize with employees and provide support during these uncertain times. Ensure that your team has the most efficient tools and streamline processes to reduce stress and prevent workplace burnout. LA businesses must also focus on work-life balance by offering flexible schedules and hybrid opportunities to accommodate the ever-changing lifestyles of employees. Finally, prioritize mental health in the workplace and find ways to boost employee appreciation.

Transparency And Alternate Solutions

Local businesses may not have much control over the supply chain issues plaguing the country, but they control how they respond. Customers expect companies to have the products they need in stock and readily available for purchase or shipment. When you can’t meet those expectations, it can result in a negative experience leading to negative feedback.

There are two things LA business owners need to focus on amid the supply chain madness – transparency and alternate solutions. Be open and honest with your customers when you don’t have items in stock. Explain why this has happened and offer a realistic timeline on when they’ll be available again.

You should also have compatible alternatives or perks to ease the tension. Offering discounts is one way to accommodate a dissatisfied customer. Alternatives to supply shortages can include suggesting similar merchandise for purchase. For example, if a customer is interested in buying a black dress from your boutique but you don’t have their size available, you can recommend a similar style dress in stock. You can couple the concepts by giving them a discount for the inconvenience.

The pandemic-related changes over the past few years have been just as unpredictable and record-breaking as the weather. Unfortunately, small businesses are taking the brunt of the pressure with limited budgets and fewer resources. Ultimately, entrepreneurs must implement strategies like those listed above to increase their chances of surviving and succeeding this year.
