Beginning June 20, the Microsoft store at Westfield Century City will host free YouthSparks summer camps, designed to ensure all young people have the opportunity to learn computer science.
Three separate camps are available:
Kodu Makerspace – for kids ages 8 to 11. Attendees will learn coding fundamentals and how to build games in a fun, hands-on environment that fosters creativity, curiosity, and collaboration.
Learn to Code Flatverse is recommended for kids 12 and older. At this camp, students can build a Flatverse game using TouchDevelop and receive hands-on instruction on how to read and write basic code.
Start Your Own Business is designed to offer entrepreneurial kids the knowledge, tools and support they need to make their business idea a reality. Attendees will learn key concepts from testing their product or idea to protecting it, and receive training on how to create their own business pitch. The camp is for students 13 and older.
All camps occur over four consecutive days for two hours per day. Registration is now open but classes fill up quickly. To register and learn more, visit microsoftstore.com/summercamps
