Mark you calendars for an event on May 13 at Beyond Baroque celebrating the first anniversary of Food for the Soul
Two Santa Monica organizations, Westside Food Bank and Upward Bound House received funds last year from our office to develop “community integration” gardens to help people who are or have experienced social isolation as a result of homelessness to reconnect through local urban agriculture projects and food gardens.
Supervisor Kuehl will speak at 9:30.
On the program will also be a young man who has been homeless for two years who worked at one of the gardens and has since found paying work with commercial gardening companies and has nearly saved the money he needs for first and last month’s rent, which will allow him to move from his car to an apartment.
