A tiny superhero bested a pack of yellow “villains” to win the North American box office race for the second week in a row, according to projections released today by tracking firm Rentrack. “Ant- Man”, from Disney and Pixar studios, took in another $24,765,000, passing the $100,000,000 mark for the first time. The critically panned Adam Sandler comedy, “Pixels”, about evil video games, disappointed with a $24,000,000 weekend, but still managed a second-place finish.
Meanwhile,Universal’s “Minions” continued to prove its worth at theaters,ranking third with a take of $22,058,050. Universal’s Amy Schumer showcase,” Trainwreck”, attracted 17,281,150.”Southpaw”, a boxing flick starring Jake Gyllenhaal, finished 5th with $16,500,000. Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “Paper Towns”($12,500,000),”Inside Out” (7,356,000), “Jurassic World” ($6,850,550.),”Mr.Holmes ($2,815,000),and Terminator Genisys ($$2,400,000.
