The Brentwood Library is inviting the community this Saturday, July 18 to celebrate the library’s 21st anniversary, commemorating the 1994 opening of the Kaufman Brentwood Branch Library at 11820 San Vicente Blvd.“The Wizard of Oz” Children’s Puppet Show at 11am
Come to a very special children’s program: “The Wizard of Oz,” the beloved American fairytale, is told here with a touch of the movie and a dash of the book. Join Dorothy and her friends, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, as they travel to Oz and beyond! Performed with traditional rod puppets in the community room.
“The Life and Music of Frank Sinatra” at 2pm
As another special anniversary event, Professor Thom Mason, from USC’s Thornton School of Music, will chronicle Sinatra’s career from his discovery with the the Hoboken Four, early years with Harry James and Tommy Dorsey, his rise to stardom during and after World War II and his relationship with the famous “Rat Pack.”
Both programs are free and open to the public.
The celebration continues with the 50 percent-off sale in the Friends Bookstore on the second floor of the library, from July 18 to 31.
