A motorist fell asleep at the wheel, crashed his car onto a golf course and was trapped until groundskeepers discovered the mess next to a freeway interchange in Diamond Bar today.
“The crash occurred (about) 4:20 a.m. The driver of the vehicle fell asleep, veered off the roadway and rolled over,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada.
“His foot got trapped and he couldn’t get out of his car. By the time the CHP got the call it was 5:13 a.m.”
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 5:06 a.m. to the crash at the Diamond Bar Golf Course, 22751 Golden Springs Drive, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.
The dispatcher said one person was extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a hospital for a possible leg injury.
The crash was on a combined section of the 57 and 60 freeways, where vehicles connect from freeway to freeway by merging.
