Lifelong Brentwood resident Jessica Leader, currently a freshman at Northwestern University, has committed to dance 30 straight hours to raise money for Joseph, a young man with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
According to Leader, Joseph’s mom, Marissa Penrod, was determined not to let her son be defined by Duchenne and founded a non-profit, Team Joseph, to fund cutting edge research to help find a treatment for this form of muscular dystrophy.
Joseph is the namesake, but the work that Team Joseph does will help all children with this devastating disease.
“I am dancing to show how our collective efforts can help them achieve their mission of fighting Duchenne,” said Leader. “I want all the kids – both Dance Marathon’s heroes and the hundreds of thousands of kids around the world who are battling this disease – to have many more holidays and New Year’s celebrations, and long lives to live out their fullest potential and dreams.”
Jessica Leader is now asking Brentwood residents to consider making a contribution to this cause. Interested donors can go to www.teamjoseph.info.
