The 4th annual 5K “Walk for Warriors” took place on Memorial Day. It was a great day for the activity held at the Veterans Affairs campus in West Los Angeles off of Wilshire Boulevard.
It started off overcast, but ended sunny. Attendees had a choice of running or walking. Runners started at 8 am and walkers followed at 9 am. The turnout was huge. Some brought their dogs to join them on the walk.
The crowd was friendly and supportive, cheering participants as they went by.
There were many volunteers passing out water along the 5K course.
Various organizations were present passing out snacks and offering opportunities for winning prizes. It was a family affair ranging from children to seniors.
“Walk for Warriors” was sponsored by “New Directions, Inc.”
Together with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and other agencies and funding groups, they provided necessary services to enable its mission – to empower veterans and facilitate their successful return to their families and society. Please consider joining the event next year.
