The West Los Angeles division of the Los Angeles Police Department said its year-to-date crime is down 19.8 percent from last year for  “Part I” crimes.

The West LA division said it is now number seven in the City of Los Angeles for total “Part I” crime reduction out of the 21 LAPD City divisions.

“Part I” crimes are classified as homicides, rapes, burglaries, aggravated assaults, robberies, and thefts (personal and auto).

West LA Division senior lead officer Maria Gray (Brentwood area) said its division continued to ask for the community’s help in reducing current growing areas of concern. She said these included the number of construction site burglaries and bike thefts.

“As always… lock it, hide it or lose it when leaving items behind in your parked car,” Gray said. “I really don’t want to see any more reports of purses or computers left behind in cars. Remind your friends, kids, parents, neighbors, visitors, and yourself. As evident by some of the reports, it only takes a few minutes for your items to be gone forever.”
