Sojourn Services For Battered Women And Their Children will hold their annual fall Domestic Violence Volunteer Training beginning on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. The training is held twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 9:30pm and runs through November. This training is mandatory for anyone who would like to volunteer at Sojourn.
Since 1977, Sojourn has been a sanctuary for women and children, providing safety and shelter to victims of domestic violence. Sojourn works to empower women and children to regain their dignity and make choices to stop the cycle of violence in families. Sojourn is a project of Santa Monica based Ocean Park Community Center (OPCC).
Founded in 1963, OPCC is a network of housing and services that provides assistance to low-income and homeless youth, adults and families, battered women and their children, at-risk youth, and people living with mental illness.
Upon completion of the training volunteers staff the 24 hour hotline, facilitate support groups for women, work in the children’s program and provide administrative assistance.
For more information or to enroll in this training please contact Theresa Abes at 310-264-6646 x225 or via email at tabes@opcc.net.
