Effective today, businesses with 26 or more employees must pay a minimum wage of $10.50 an hour to workers who perform work (at least two hours in a one-week period) in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. The County of Los Angeles Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) will enforce Los Angeles County’s new minimum wage, accepting and investigating claims of alleged minimum wage violations.
To educate residents about the new minimum wage, DCBA launched the “Honest Work, Fair Pay” public awareness campaign. Advertisements across several platforms (radio, television, bus, print, and online) will run this month. DCBA will attend community events and partner with several multicultural community based organizations to increase awareness of the ordinance across the County’s diverse neighborhoods. DCBA has also created a public service announcement available for download in English and Spanish.
DCBA will also continue educating businesses about changes to the minimum wage. DCBA has contacted thousands of County businesses through email, mail, and in-person educational visits.
