The Beverly Hills artSHOW is back this weekend with a pop edge and a first time 3D installation along with more traditional works. Offering something for everyone, the established art fair has been running for more than 40 years and draws art lovers from all over the world.

The event will feature all types of media: painting, photography, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, glass, and jewelry too.

Beverly Hills artSHOW manager Karen McLean has been organizing the bi-annual event for the past 12 years. McLean has worked with many of the same artists year after year, but she said that with each event she is excited to see a new crop of talented artists submit work for the show.

This year’s theme is “Drenched, Dehydrated, Driven by Wind: Weather in Art.” More than 20 artists will portray dramatic weather conditions through various media. 3D mixed media artist Debi Cable will be creating a black light installation titled “Galactic Wonderland,” and will spotlight the galaxies via spirals, starbursts, and other out-of-this-world black lit renderings. This is the first time the artist will be participating in the event.

“Being able to touch other people in a positive way is what drives me to continue to create,” explained the artist.

Cable is an active part of the Los Angeles art community. She recently opened her studio at the Brewery Arts Complex’s biannual ArtWalk, showcasing her Vortex of Destiny installation. Cable has shown her specialty art at renowned venues such as the Sundance Film Festivals, the Playboy Mansion, Electric Daily Carnival, Burning Man and more. All ages are welcome. Artist Sona Mirzaei said she is excited to participate at The Beverly Hills artSHOW this weekend. It will be her the fourth time.

“I think it’s a great venue for artists to showcase their creativity to the local community who may not usually go into an art gallery,” Mirzaei said.

She recently created a new series titled “Super Men,” which she will be debuting at the event. Combining pop, street, urban, and collage, “Super Men” features pop culture images from the last century.

“As an artist it is great when you can create a new body of work that is invigorating and a fresh change that engages new admirers and keeps the old collectors happy to be a proud owner of my work,” Mirzaei said.

Mirzaei went on to say that the Beverly Hills art committee does an exceptional job at making sure artists have what they need.

“In the last show I was asked for any feedback to help improve shows for the future,” Mirzaei said. “Karen McLean has been a delightful person to work with over the last couple of years, and she really has done a tremendous job with The Beverly Hills Art Show.”

The Beverly Hills artSHOW takes place both Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17 and 18, 2015, from 10 am to 5 pm, in Beverly Gardens Park on Santa Monica Boulevard, from Rodeo Drive to Rexford Drive. The event is free and open to the public.
