Janet Jackson, who recently announced her first concert tour in four years, will receive the inaugural “Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award” during Sunday’s 15th annual BET Awards, while Smokey Robinson will receive a lifetime achievement award, organizers announced today.
The presentation of the honor to Jackson will include a dance tribute performance by Ciara, Jason Derulo and Tinashe.
Meanwhile, Tyga, Robin Thicke, K. Michelle, Janelle Monae and Jidenna were aded to the list of people scheduled to perform during the ceremony at the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
They will join previously announced performers including Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Yazz, Donnie McClurkin, Silento, Future and Anthony Hamilton.
The 5 p.m. show will be hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.
