Indie publishing company She Writes Press is bringing back innovative face-to-face author interaction with its first-ever national book tour this spring, stopping in West Hollywood at Book Soup on Sunday, May 17 at 4 p.m.
Hybrid publishing company She Writes Press is introducing a traditional book tour to the their nontraditional business model. As the digital age grows and 3,500 books a day are published in the US, according to Bowker, the ability for any author – traditionally published or independently – to get on the road for a tour has decreased exponentially. She Writes Press is seeking to revive this opportunity for their community of indie authors and give readers, writers and industry professionals an experience to enjoy a tour of their authors, learn more about their books and the She Writes Press publishing experience, which is fast becoming a viable third way of publishing for authors seeking alternatives to traditional publishing or self publishing.
She Writes Press will embark on its first-ever national book tour this spring and summer, stopping in twelve major cities and featuring more than fifteen authors.
She Writes Press is a publishing imprint of She Writes, the largest global community of women writers online with more than 25,000 active members since its launch in 2009. She Writes founder Kamy Wicoff and publisher Brooke Warner launched She Writes Press in 2012 and the imprint now has over 100-signed authors and was acquired by SparkPoint Studio in 2014. The SparkPoint Studio family now has the SheWrites.com community, two award-winning hybrid publishing imprints (She Writes Press and SparkPress), and BookSparks – its leading book publicity and marketing division for authors and publishers. Providing a highly engaged platform, curated hybrid publishing and industry-leading PR for authors and publishers, SparkPoint Studio is paving the way for authors and publishers to embrace the ever-changing publishing industry and to have a one-stop place for all their story needs.
The She Writes Press national book tour not only gives authors the traditional publishing treatment with opportunities to participate in book signings and author panels in major cities across the country, but also showcases the growth and potential within a hybrid model. She Writes Press authors get the benefit of full distribution, professional editing and design, foreign rights opportunities, as well as a personal, hands-on, collaborative approach to publishing and now they also have the opportunity to share their work on a larger scale with a multi-city book tour.
The She Writes Press Tour events will embrace both traditional format of having authors do book signings and discussion of their work, but will also feature a special guest moderator who will host the She Writes Press panel and guide discussion for readers, writers and people interested in the book publishing industry in a fun and fearless format.
“Many traditional publishers simply aren’t sending their authors out on book tours anymore or leave it up to their authors to build their own platforms and struggle with PR,” says SparkPoint Studio CEO Crystal Patriarche. “We think that there is still a huge value in building community face to face so we’re seeking to close the gap between authors and readers while also supporting indie bookstores all across the country. And through our innovative family of companies, we have our own platform, industry-leading PR that focuses on traditional and digital avenues, and hybrid publishing imprints that give our authors support and options.”
The She Writes Press tour will kick off in Phoenix, where SparkPoint Studio is headquartered, on April 20th and continue through major cities including Chicago, New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
