Digital Hollywood — the Sequel!

Digital Hollywood comes to LA twice each year and it’s always an exciting show.

It would be easy to think that twice a year for an event like this is a little too often, but things are moving so quickly in the tech space these days that it’s hard to keep up. Six months is a long time in this business.

From April 27–30 there will be another four very action-packed days of show biz, digital innovation, deal-making, connecting and more at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey.

Karen MC Kane + Friend
Much of the action is poolside at Digital Hollywood. Here is Karen MC Kane and a friend.

There are hundreds of panels; here is a sampling of but a few of the topics that will be covered this year:

TV: The power of YouTube; Over the Top TV; Multichannel Networks (MCNs).

Marketing: Viral and social media; branding; the power of Pinterest; all things Facebook and Twitter; leveraging content and celebrity for cross-platform success; programmatic advertising sales.

DH Panel
A typical Digital Hollywood panel discussion.

Finance: Audience pitches to an expert panel; women entrepreneurs; deal-making; ccrowd funding films (and other projects).

Technology: Media convergence; the Big Data revolution; virtual reality (and augmented reality).

Music: the new world of music licensing; activating the fanbase; new music apps.

Joey Tamer
Joey Tamer, Santa Monica startup financing expert, takes a question from the audience.

Health: How the healthcare industry is using new digital tools to make us all healthier and more fit;

Sports: Tapping into this ever powerful cultural phenomenon.

There are breakfast meetings, box lunches during the day and poolside drinks starting in the early evening.

There are usually special dinners for various sub-audiences (mostly for television executives), sponsored by big players in the worlds of entertainment, digital media and finance.

Yahoo VP
Lisa Licht, a VP from Yahoo.

During the day, there will be an exhibit hall where one can learn about all kinds of new technologies and services.

Victor Harwood, founder of Digital Hollywood, has been producing these events for years. He is widely considered an authority on the convergence of the entertainment and technology industries.

It would be impossible to attend Digital Hollywood and not learn something new or meet someone who could be helpful with whatever project you might be working on.   Each year, the event gets bigger and better.
