Beyonce scored a leading eight nominations today for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, including nods for video of the year, best female video, best choreography and best collaboration for her work with husband Jay Z.
Beyonce is nominated along with Jay Z for video of the year for their collaboration on “Drunk in Love.” Also nominated were Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX for “Fancy,” Miley Cyrus for “Wrecking Ball,” Pharrell Williams for “Happy” and Sia for “Chandelier.”
Iggy Azalea and Eminem each earned seven VMA nominations, which were announced by MTV via the social media network Snapchat. The awards will be presented Aug. 24 at the Forum in Inglewood. Fan voting on the awards began today at www.mtv.com.
Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer are among the acts expected to perform at the show.
Iggy Azalea and Beyonce will battle for best female video with Lorde for “Royals,” Ariana Grande — in collaboration with Iggy Azalea — for “Problem” and Katy Perry featuring Juicy J for “Dark Horse.”
Eminem’s collaboration with Rihanna on “The Monster” was nominated for best male video, along with Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” John Legend for “All of Me,” Ed Sheeran featuring Pharrell for “Sing” and Sam Smith for “Stay with Me.”
