16-Year-Old “Modern Family” Actress Owns $2 Million Estate

“Modern Family” actress Ariel Winter’s estate is worth about $2 million, according to accounting documents filed by her father.

Winter, 16, was the subject of a long custody fight between her sister, Shanelle Gray, and their mother, Chrisoula Workman. In May, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel Murphy granted permanent guardianship of the actress to Gray after Workman agreed not to contest the issue further.

The siblings’ father, Glenn Workman, was named permanent guardian of Winter’s finances until she reaches adulthood. Gray, 35, and her father had served in the temporary guardianship roles with the same responsibilities for more than a year.

According to court papers submitted Monday by Glenn Workman’s attorney, David Booth, the assets of the teen’s estate grew from $852,775 in December 2012 to $1.95 million on May 31. Some of the money is kept in Winter’s name and the rest under the title of Winter Sky Entertainment Inc., a company created for her benefit.

A hearing on Glenn Workman’s accounting of the estate’s assets is scheduled Sept. 10.

Chrisoula Workman sought to have Winter returned home after Gray was granted temporary guardianship over her sibling in October 2012 amid allegations of mental abuse by the mother toward the actress.

Workman, 56, said her troubles with her youngest daughter began after she expressed her disapproval of the girl’s romantic relationship with actor Cameron Palatas.
