Sustainable Morning Routine

Whether you’re a lover of morning yoga or a hot cup of coffee, creating a morning routine is essential to a healthy and happy lifestyle. But what’s even better than a perfect morning routine? A sustainable morning routine.

Sustainability is important because it means that we are doing our part to save the planet. If we can make simple changes to our lifestyles then we can make a big impact on the things that matter like earth and our wild life.

Stop Using Single Use Coffee Pods

Coffee is one of the first things many people think about in the morning. Seriously, who doesn’t love a warm cup of coffee on a cold morning? Instead of opting for single-serve coffee pods, try a reusable pod or recyclable pods. Or better yet, use coffee grounds with a reusable filter, that way you are avoiding plastic altogether.

Additionally, try to limit your spending on coffee purchases. Starbucks is so delicious, but making coffee-buying a habit can lead to unnecessary waste and spending! Instead, try to make your coffee at home or at your office at work if that’s an option.

Cut Your Shower Short

As the winter months approach quicker and quicker, it’s easy to let those showers drag on for far too long. Shorter showers help conserve water and energy. By cutting out just 5 minutes of your shower each day, you could make a massive difference in conservation!

Pick An Eco-Friendly Car For Your Commute

Morning routines aren’t just about the time frame before you leave the house. What also matters is how you are en route to work. Taking the bus, biking, or walking are the best ways to get to work that also save the environment. However, this isn’t always possible, given the nature of how far your commute to work or school is. With that said, buying an electric car is your best bet for saving the environment. There are more and more models being released each year, from Teslas to Chevys to Fords–and everything in between! You can also install the appropriate car charger in your own home, making it even more convenient to “fuel up” than ever before! That’s right, for a modest fee you can purchase a Tesla Model S, Ford Mustang Mach-E, or a Chevy Volt charger to use in the comfort of your own home. Yes, it will be an investment up front, but in the long run you will also be saving money on gas each month. Think about how much saving that will be!

Opt For Sustainable Beauty Products

Clean beauty has become a trend these days. When it comes to sustainable beauty and skincare products, try to look out for sustainable packaging as well. Whatever brands you choose, find ones that use glass bottles in place of plastic, allowing you to repurpose once you’re done using the product.

Stick To A Reusable Water Bottle

Drinking water can and should be a part of your morning routine. If you drink too much coffee without balancing out the fluids in your body, you may become dehydrated! If you work in an office or go to school, you will especially need a water bottle to keep you hydrated throughout the day. Bringing your own reusable water bottle is one of the best things you can do for the planet. If not, you may end up using up to 3 or 4 plastic bottles in a day, meaning 15 a week! You can reduce all that plastic waste by simply investing in a reusable bottle.

Invest In An Eco Conscious Toothbrush

If you are continuously throwing away a plastic toothbrush each month, this will lead to a lot of excessive waste. Consider an electric toothbrush or bamboo brush to use instead. With electric toothbrushes, you can just change the top brush portion every time you need. Waste eliminated and costs eliminated! On the other hand, a bamboo brush can be thrown away often without worrying about any harm to the environment.

Breakfast Time

Last but not least, we need breakfast to function well for the rest of our day. For breakfast, consider eating plant-based. Incorporating at least one plant based meal per day, will help transform our environment. Breakfast is one of the easiest ways to eat plant-based. There are so many options like avocado toast, a smoothie, or oats with fruit. The options are endless!
