Former Brentwood resident Glorya Kaufman recently held a book signing at the Brentwood Kaufman Branch Library for her new book, “Gloryous Dance Affair.” The memoir was written with co-author Deborah Schwartz and is available on Amazon.
A former dancer, Kaufman founded the Glorya Kaufman Dance Foundation in 2008. The Foundation offers underprivileged children dance classes at Inner-City Arts and the Mar Vista Family Center.
The Foundation is also a major contributor to the Los Angeles Music Center, The Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, The Julliard School, and many other arts organizations.
The Glorya Kaufman School of Dance and the Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center opened at the University of Southern California in October 2016.
In honor of her late husband, Donald Bruce Kaufman, Glorya Kaufman sponsored a new branch of the Los Angeles Public Library on San Vicente Blvd. in Brentwood. She also collaborated with Dr. Leonard Apt of the Jules Stein Eye Clinic to establish a preschool eye exam mobile unit.
