The Westside Urban Forum (WUF) will host a panel discussion on homelessness on September 16 at the Olympic Collection in West L.A.
According to WUF, the region’s homeless population has grown in recent years with encampments taking over public spaces. City and county officials have come together to devise a homelessness plans and together they are promoting ballot measures to partially fund these plans.
The plans will be discussed at the September 16 forum, where attendees can learn about city and county ballot measures, learn where the money will go, meet some of the people leading these efforts, and discuss the plans’ impact on land use issues, such as the development of affordable housing.
The following panelists will be speaking at the forum: Deputy Director, L.A. County Dept. of Public Social Services, Phil Ansell; Los Angeles District 11 City Councilmember Mike Bonin, L.A. City Administrator Miguel Santana, and Vice President, Housing and Economic Opportunity, CCF, Ann Sewill.
The panel will be moderated by the L.A. Times’ Carla Hall.
The event will take place at 11301 Olympic Boulevard, 90064. Registration begins at 7:15 a.m., Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m., and the panel will start at 8 a.m.
Attendees can register at the door. Fees are $50 for members, $65 for nonmembers, $20 for student members and $25 for student nonmembers.
