It’s not uncommon for people to seek out hair transplants, but did you know you could actually have an eyebrow transplant?
Many women can attest to over plucking their brows to the point of losing their eyebrows completely, with no chance of them ever growing back. While some women resort to using eyebrow pencils or even tattoos, Century City surgeon Dr. Marc Dauer, medical director of Dauer Hair Restoration, can restore your real eyebrows by using hair from your scalp and transplanting it to your brows.
Dr. Dauer is one of the pioneers of the procedure and has been doing eyebrow transplants for twelve years. Clients – both men and women – from all over the world come to his practice on Century Park East for the little-know procedure.
The transplant, done under local anesthetic, takes approximately five to seven hours, and anywhere between 250 and 400 hairs are placed on each eyebrow.
In an interview with CBS, Dr. Dauer said, “The reason why this procedure works is because what I’m doing is introducing a brand new hair follicle into a place, where the follicles no longer exist for whatever reason – the plucking, or genetic causes, or some sort of skin condition, [which] have caused the natural eyebrow hairs to die off.”
It takes time for the eyebrows to grow back completely, but Dr. Dauer says patients can expect completed results to take up to nine months.
However, the price of natural brows isn’t cheap. The procedure will set you back anywhere between $7,500 and $8,500 and it’s not covered by insurance.
