Gabrielle Carteris was re-elected as SAG-AFTRA’s executive vice president at its second biennial national convention in Universal City, the union announced Friday.
Carteris received 79.31 percent of the votes from convention delegates to 20.69 percent for her lone challenger, Patricia Richardson.
Richardson, best known for playing Tim Allen’s wife on the 1991-99 ABC comedy, “Home Improvement,” had challenged SAG-AFTRA President Ken Howard this summer, receiving 46.26 percent of the votes in a mail-in election to 53.74 percent for Howard.
Carteris was elected to her first term as executive vice president at the inaugural SAG-AFTRA Convention in 2013. Her new two-year term begins immediately.
“I am honored to be chosen by the SAG-AFTRA membership as their elected representative,” said Carteris, best known for her portrayal of brainy school newspaper editor Andrea Zuckerman on the 1990-2000 Fox teen drama “Beverly Hills, 90210,” and will soon be seen in a recurring role on the new CBS medical drama “Code Black.”
“Working together, we can continue to make progress that benefits our union and strives to improve the livelihoods of all SAG-AFTRA members.”
