
Viewing parties for today’s U.S.-Brazil men’s exhibition soccer game will be held at three locations in Los Angeles County and in Tustin in Orange County.
The opening kickoff from Foxborough, Massachusetts is set for 5 p.m. The game will be televised in English by ESPN2, and in Spanish by UniMas and cable’s Univision Deportes Network.
The Los Angeles and Orange County watch parties will be held at:
— House of Wings Sportsbar, 2317 D St., La Verne
— The Man Cave Ultimate Sports Bar and Lounge, 3575 Cahuenga Blvd., Universal City;
— Q’s Billiard Club, 11835 Wilshire Blvd., Brentwood; and
— The Auld Dubliner, 2497 Park Ave., Tustin.
The viewing parties are organized by various chapters of American Outlaws, a nationwide support group for the U.S. men’s and women’s national soccer teams.
The game is the last tune-up for the U.S. before the Oct. 10 CONCACAF Cup against Mexico at the Rose Bowl, with the winner advancing to the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
The U.S. is 28th in the rankings compiled by FIFA, soccer’s international governing body. Brazil is ranked fifth.
The U.S. roster includes four players with ties to Southern California — Los Angeles Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez and forward Gyasi Zardes; forward Bobby Wood, who played for the Irvine Strikers; and defender Michael Orozco, who was born in Orange.
The U.S. team consists of seven players who play in Major League Soccer, seven others who play in England, five who play in Germany, four in Mexico, one in France and one college player, Stanford forward Jordan Morris.
Brazil’s roster includes 10 players who were part of Brazil’s 2014 World Cup team, which finished fourth.
Brazil’s team consists of six players who play in Brazil, six others who play in England, four in Spain, three in France, two in Germany, and one each in Italy, Russia and Major League Soccer.
The U.S is 1-16 against Brazil, with its only victory coming in a 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinal at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This is the first meeting between the two teams since May 30, 2012, when Brazil won, 4-1, in an exhibition in Landover, Maryland.
