A model is suing a sweater company for allegedly using photographs of her in ways not permitted by an agreement.
Taylor Hill, 19, filed the lawsuit Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court against 360Sweater LLC. The complaint alleges misappropriation of likeness and seeks restitution.
A representative for the company did not immediately reply to an email for comment sent today.
According to Hill’s lawsuit, the Colorado native agreed in March 2014 to be photographed wearing 360Sweater apparel. The terms of a licensing agreement with 360Sweater included restrictions on the display of the photos to such uses as the company’s website and in the social media.
However, last November the images were being used on in-store posters Malibu Lumber Yard shopping center, on billboards and on poster boards at the Fashion Coterie show in New York, the suit states.
The photos also were improperly used by Skull Cashmere, an “unauthorized affiliate” of 360Sweater, the suit states.
The licensing agreement was scheduled to expire in March of this year, but 360Sweater has continued to use Hill’s photos beyond that date, the suit alleges.
Hill, who is 6 feet tall and a former gymnast, was recently named one of the latest generation of Victoria’s Secret Angels.
