Principal Conductor of Teatro la Fenice and former LA Phil Dudamel Fellow Diego Matheuz replacesDaniel Harding in the Los Angeles Philharmonic presentation of La Traviata, Sunday August 9, at 7:30 pm, at the Hollywood Bowl. Harding has withdrawn for family reasons.
Matheuz, in his Hollywood Bowl debut, leads the following cast in the Verdi opera: soprano Venera Gimadieva as Violetta; tenor Francesco Demuro as Alfredo; baritone Simone Piazzola as Germont; tenor David Portillo as Gastone; mezzo-soprano Kelley O’Connor as Flora; soprano Erica Brookhyser as Annina; bass-baritone Evan Hughes as the Baron; baritone Norman Garrett as the Marchese; bass-baritone Craig Colclough as the Dottore; tenor John Irvin as Giuseppe; bass Gabriel Vamvulescu as Flora’s Servant and Messenger; and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
The program is part of the LA Phil’s series of Sunday Sunset Concerts at the Hollywood Bowl.
