Merry Makers spread holiday joy at Westfield Century City

Holiday shopping can often be the least glamorous part of the season – but Westfield Century City is transforming the shopping experience this year with its Merry Makers program.

Now through Dec. 24, the Merry Makers team will be roaming the mall to surprise unsuspecting shoppers with acts of kindness, providing gifts like giveaways and special services.

Since the Merry Makers also perform festive songs and dances throughout the entire day, their presence will be celebrating the gift of giving and spreading the holiday spirit through music until Christmas Eve.

The Westfield Merry Makers have made their way back to Century City due to popular demand from last year’s holiday season.

“The Merry Makers are a Westfield signature program, and for the second year have been bringing joy, surprise, delight, and merriment to Westfield centers nationwide,” said Melanie Bender, senior marketing director at Westfield Century City.

The concept behind the Merry Makers emphasizes the beauty of giving back, whether it be through an extravagant gift or a simple but meaningful act of kindness.

“Shoppers might find themselves being helped to the car with their holiday haul or receiving their first gift of the season,” Bender said.

Westfield visitors may also wind up participating in a Holiday Dance Party with the Merry Makers, which is sure to brighten the atmosphere and potentially relieve some stress associated with a hectic shopping season.

“They have something up their sleeve for the whole family,” Bender said. The goal of the Merry Makers is to bring as much enjoyability and convenience to the holiday shopping experience as possible.

“The Merry Makers are just one more way we make our center your second home,” Bender said, highlighting the importance of customer satisfaction. “At Westfield Century City, everyone is on the nice list.”

Westfield is partnering with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the St. Jude Thanks and Giving Campaign, which is a union of celebrities, media, and retail/corporate brands that asks shoppers to donate to St. Jude as they shop for the holidays.

The St. Jude Thanks and Giving Campaign, which began as a holiday-focused effort, has now developed into an annual program and has collected more than $487 million over the last decade to benefit St. Jude’s treatment and research practices.

In addition, Westfield will donate a dollar for every holiday photo taken in any of its 40 centers and submitted to a social media outlet with the hashtag #MakeMeMerry.
