A large gray whale first spotted off the coast of Topanga Canyon was later seen at Marina Del Rey late Tuesday where it entertained various people, according to witnesses.
The animal did not appear to be distressed.
Whales normally are migrating to Baja California around this time.
Authorities were telling people to avoid getting too close to the whale, both for its sake and theirs.
