A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed yesterday in Pacific Palisades, and Pacific Coast Highway was closed for the fatality investigation.
Paramedics were dispatched at 3:32 a.m. to Pacific Coast Highway west of Temescal Canyon Road and south of Sunset Boulevard. They rushed at least one person to a hospital, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
The deceased was a 25-year-old Los Angeles resident, but the person’s gender was not available, said Officer Nuria Vanegas of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations.
Pacific Coast Highway was then closed between Temescal Canyon and Sunset, with traffic to and from Malibu detoured through Pacific Palisades. It was re-opened about 9:30 a.m., according to a deputy monitoring the situation from the sheriff’s Malibu/Lost Hills station.
Vanegas said the crash was not a hit-and-run and no one had been arrested or cited, but additional details were not immediately available. Officers at the LAPD’s West Traffic Division said police were dispatched to the scene at 3:30 a.m., but provided no other information.
