Carlos Barahona, a senior at Los Angeles High School (LAHS), was selected as one of the LAUSD JROTC All-City Staff after a rigorous competition to determine the top 20 Cadets in the district. The Cadets showed their proficiency through a 300 question academic test, a five part athletic assessment, a military style subject briefing, a Cadet Class B uniform inspection and a drill and ceremony performance.
Cadet Major Barahona is also the Battalion Commander for the Roman Battalion made up of 151 students of all grades at Los Angeles High School and has been a member of JROTC all of his years at LAHS. He began at a rank of Cadet and rose through the ranks participating in various service orinted activities and leadership positions.
Cadet Barahona says about his experience, “it is life transforming and it helped me to overcome shyness and helped me to become something I always wanted to be.â€
Carlos plans to attend college.
