REFLECTIONS IN THE MIST: A Thoroughly Modern Myth

10-year-old Izzy D'Amico designs make-up for the showLove, secrets, friendship and the wonders and woes of unopened email –a thoroughly modern myth that twists traditional story-telling upside down and backwards to create a magical myth-tery tour that enfolds you in a mist-ifyingly entertaining tapestry of theatrical delights whose intricacy and intensity belies the performers’ youth.

In a compelling combination of performance art, music, dance, poetry, percussion and illusion, the 8- to 14-year-old ensemble explores the answers to such burning questions as, “What would it take to make a deal with the devil?†“Ever looked in the mirror and seen a stranger staring back at you?†“How can you tell when someone really loves you?†Helmed by acclaimed Playhouse Co-Artistic Director Chris DeCarlo and Playhouse Associate Director Serena Dolinsky, w14-year-old Sonya Broner is a five-year Playhouse veteranith book by Evelyn Rudie and music by composer Matthew Wrather, REFLECTIONS IN THE MIST features Summer Stock 2011 members Asher Bank, Mira Baum, Sonya Broner, Izzy D’Amico, Sam Korobkin, Anilee List, Karli Jo List, Adya Mohanty, Dylan Ollivier, Esther Ollivier, Alex Poe, Meghan Shah and Sarah Silvers. Special effects are by Nima Ghassemian.

Summer Stock at the Playhouse is an intensive five-week professional immersion program that explores theatre as a total activity, combining performance, behind-the-scenes skills and theatre management.

Alumni include producer/writer Rina Mimoun, journalist Gadi Dechter, casting director Liz Dean and Newark Superintendant of Schools Cami Anderson.

Five performances only: Fri & Sat, Aug 26 & 27, 2 PM and 7:30 PM; special early bird morning12-year-old Sam Korobkin creates a dozen roles for the production show Sun, Aug 28, 9 AM. Continental Breakfast is included ticket price for the Sunday show only.

$20 general admission; $17.50 for students, teachers, seniors and members of the military; $15 for groups of eight or more.
