The Dedication and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Veterans Home of California – West Los Angeles will take place on Monday, June 14 at 10am
The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet),the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA), the California Department General Services, (DGS), and the City of Los Angeles, invite the public to a Dedication and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the beautiful new Veterans Home of California – West Los Angeles.

Representatives from CalVet, USDVA, DGS, the City of Los Angeles, elected officials, veterans, families and friends will be in attendance.

BACKGROUND: CalVet currently operates five Veterans Homes of California located in Yountville (Napa County), Barstow (San Bernardino County), Chula Vista (San Diego County), Lancaster (Los Angeles County) and Ventura (Ventura County). The Department is also working with contractors for building two new Veterans Homes of California in Fresno (Fresno County) and Redding (Shasta County). The Veterans Home of California – West Los Angeles will cost approximately $187 million. Construction began in July, 2007. The 396-bed facility has three levels of care: An 84-bed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) or assisted living; a 252-bed Skilled Nursing Facility; and a 60-bed Alzheimers/dementia, or “memory care†unit.
The Veterans Home will employ approximately 600 staff.
