Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is specifically designed to use mindful awareness to help lessen stress and pain in our lives. This program, created by Jon Kabat-Zinn, began at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979 and since has spread world-wide.
As you know from your meditation practice, mindfulness calms and quiets the mind, with moment-by-moment awareness in a non-judgmental way. MBSR helps participants to specifically target their mindfulness practice on personal symptoms experienced as a result of physical and emotional challenges.
