A Special Education Legal Rights and Advocacy Workshop will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. This workshop, presented by attorneys Janeen Steel and Ines Kuperschmit of the Los Angeles Learning Rights Law Center, will provide an understanding of the special education laws; how to advocate successfully; and how to read, write and deliver effective IEP’s. The event is sponsored by the Southern California Consortium of the International Dyslexia Association in cooperation with the Los Angeles Learning Disabilities Association. Registration is available online at www.regonline.com/legalrights or by calling 818 506-8866 and requesting a brochure.
This one-day workshop is for parents and professionals who work with students with learning disabilities. Registration includes morning refreshments, lunch and the Learning Rights Law Center Toolkit: a binder that provides the tools and forms necessary to advocate for equitable access in the education system.
