Gumbiner Savett Inc., one of the largest CPA and business advisory firms in Southern California, has named shareholders Rick Parent to lead the firm’s accounting and auditing department, and David Thaw to lead its tax department.
“Rick and David will bring a fresh perspective to their new roles, providing a solid foundation in leadership for their respective groups and giving Gumbiner an added dimension that will help us to better serve our clients in these challenging times,†said Michael Savoy, managing director of the Santa Monica-based firm.
Both Parent and Thaw have extensive client experience in various industries such as manufacturing and distribution, entertainment, hospitality, and real estate. Parent, a 20-year public accounting and auditing veteran, is an executive vice president within the firm and has worked at international accounting firms including Ernst & Young and BDO Seidman. Also an executive vice president, Thaw brings more than 15 years of public accounting experience to his new role with previous positions at Ernst & Young and KPMG. Both are certified public accountants through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Parent and Thaw are alumni of the University of Southern California and University of South Carolina, respectively.
