The California Highway Patrol Thursday reported no traffic-related deaths on Los Angeles County highways during the first 12 hours of this year’s Thanksgiving holiday period.
The reporting period began at 6:01 p.m. Wednesday and ended Thursday at 6 a.m.
During the same period last year, there was just one traffic-related fatality.
Statewide this year, there were eight deaths, compared with four last year.
In Los Angeles County, CHP officers arrested 29 motorists on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, down from last year’s total of 41. Statewide, there were 179 DUI arrests, down from last year’s total of 188.
