Happy Hour is an ensemble piece that combines theater, live music and movement to follow intertwining stories at a local bar’s happy hour. A nostalgic peek into the lives of not-so-young anymore artists grappling with omnipresent fears and hopes. As destinies rise and happy hour winds down, one by one they must face their own insecurities about the future. Convinced her best friend Ryan is making a huge mistake leaving the city for a new life, Rose must eventually learn to let go and face her fear of being left behind. A rhapsodic collaboration with The Venice Symphony Orchestra and original music by Wesley Flowers.
This everyman/everywoman story is told with heightened theatricality with a unique blend between symphony orchestra and choreography. Each song and choreographed movement enhances the characters’ stories, taking us on their inner emotional journey.
10 actors, 6 musicians, 1 human desire to be happy.
Director + Playwright Elitia Daniels shares, “The play is about letting go of what you thought your life would be in order to discover what it still could be. Especially as artists we live a double life, oscillating between our dreams of what could be and what actually is. This is play is about finding happiness in the uncertainty.”
